Dear Residents & Friends,
The February 12, 2020 copy of the Islander stated that the pier would be open to the public. March 10th at 1:00 PM. This was an error. The RFPs are scheduled to be opened at that time and date. No date has been set for an opening of the pier and the commission would have to approve any recommendations in that regard.
Dear Friends & Residents of the City of Anna Maria:
As you know, for the past 4 years our city has successfully regulated vacation rental properties by requiring registration, performing inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and limiting occupancy. This approach has benefitted all of the stakeholders on our island; the residents, property owners, realtors and visitors. However, 2 bills recently introduced in the Florida legislature threaten to revoke our ability to continue to do so going forward. These 2 bills, SB 1128 and HB 1011 are scheduled to go to committees in the next few weeks. I am asking you to click on this link http://www.homerulefl.com/ to read more about this issue and send an email to our legislators asking them to vote no on these measures. It only takes a few clicks and your message will be on its way to Tallahassee!
Thank you for your help in this important matter and please forward this message to your friends.
Dan Murphy - Mayor
City of Anna Maria
Office (941)708-6130 Extension 124
